Sprint 1 (Sept 15 - Sept 21): And so it begins...

Hey everyone!

We’ve had a productive first week, and we’re excited to share what we’ve been working on with our project. The team is ready and our idea is coming together, so here’s the latest:

📝 What We've Been Up To:

-Under Oath

We’ve made it official—our whole team has signed the team charter! We have all agreed to commit to this project and set out some guidelines. Everyone on our team has a diverse skillset, and we are all took an oath to do one thing, succeed. If you want to see who’s on the starting lineup, check out our team members here!

- Filling Everyone In

Since we’ve got a few new names joining the original team, we took some time to go over our app’s vision again. For those just joining our adventure: our app is designed to help newcomers and immigrants to Canada settle into communities where they’ll feel right at home, using AI to make it easier. We’re all about helping people find their forever home!

- Subgroups: You Bet

With a bigger team comes more moving parts, so we’ve split into subgroups to tackle different parts of the project. All these subgroups are designed to ensure individual success while also working towards our goal—to win!

💡 How We’re Growing:

As our team has expanded, we’ve had to focus good communication. With more people comes the challenge of making sure everyone stays connected and in the loop. We’ve been working on improving our communication—regular meetings and shared task boards keep everyone aligned.

Splitting into subgroups has helped us focus on different aspects of the project, but we’re also making sure to stay synced as a whole team to keep the big picture in mind. Everyone has a voice within these subgroups, letting everyone work on their leadership skills while adapting to feedback from others.

We’re learning on the go with this project, whether it’s mastering new tools or figuring out how to organize our work better. Everyone’s been stepping up to take on roles that play to their strengths, which has been great for personal growth too.

Overall, we’re finding our rhythm as a bigger, more dynamic team!

🔍 Next Steps:

We’ll be narrowing down our target audience in the coming week. We initially aimed to help all newcomers and immigrants, but we’ve realized that focusing on a more specific group will make our app even more impactful. We’re delving into deeper research to figure out exactly who will benefit most from what we’re building. Once we’ve identified our niche, we’ll tailor the app to meet their needs more effectively.
