Hey everyone!

This week has been a wild ride for our team as we navigated through multiple pivots, research, and decision-making. We are encountering some hurdles. so here's the latest on our progress:

🔄 What We Did:

- Market Research Turned Dead End:

We dug deep into our original plan, but soon realized the learning curve was too steep and the complexity was overwhelming. We began to drift away from our original idea and needed to go back to the drawing board to shift to a new concept.

- Time to Pivot

We shifted our focus to a roommate matcher for immigrants, immigrant students. We then ran into the same issue; our scope was too large. After more research, we scoped in further, exploring niche options like Muslim, LGBTQ+, and sober living communities.

- Time to Pivot... Again?

You read that right, we needed to pivot again. We kept running into dead ends, and after researching we did not see a clear need for this app. But we are determined, and we pivoted again! We decided to create an AI-based job interview tool specifically for immigrant nurses, helping them prep for the Canadian job market. After researching competitors, we identified some key strengths and weaknesses in the market, giving us solid ground to work upward from, and we all can see a clear path forward.

💡 How We’re Growing:

This week, things were hectic! After needing to pivot twice in the same week, we were all discouraged. We all felt the pressure as we scrambled to find new ideas and make them work, feeling rushed as we fell more and more behind. But the challenge made us stronger—and after an extra team meeting, we mapped out a weekly action plan. Everyone pitched their ideas, we laid out pros and cons, and ultimately decided as a team to go forward with the AI interview prep tool for immigrant nurses. This experience strengthened the teams bond, and we are ready to move forward with this idea.

🔍 Next Steps:

Now that we’ve settled on our idea, we’re diving into research to make it happen. First, we’ll focus on understanding the nurse interview process in Canada and how our tool can help. We’ll also conduct a competitor analysis to identify gaps we can fill. To make sure we’re addressing real pain points, we’ll be creating a user research survey to gather insights from immigrant nurses about their biggest challenges when job hunting.

We’ve been through a lot of changes, but we’re confident that we’re on the right track now. We are all eager to get working, so stay tuned for more updates as we dive deeper into building this app!

Cheers,

The Onward team.
