When designing the logo for Onward, we aimed to create a symbol that represents healthcare, progress, and the journey into the Canadian workforce. Each element of the logo was thoughtfully designed to embody our goal of guiding immigrants into the Canadian health care industry. Diving deeper we will go over how the logo was created and the process behind the design and decisions.

The Concept: Cross and Stairs
The centrepiece of our logo is a health cross, a universal symbol of care, aid, and support, closely linked with healthcare professions. However, we gave this traditional symbol a twist. By integrating stairs into the cross, we aimed to represent both progress and upward movement, signifying the steps that our users take in advancing their careers. Just as stairs lead upward, Onward is here to guide and support nurses as they prepare to take their careers to the next level in a new country.

The Color: Pink for Nursing and Compassion
The logo uses blush pink on the health cross which symbolizes a common colour for nursing scrubs in Canada. This pink is a deep yet inviting colour that stands out to the viewer and portrays compassion through the association of care. The steps use a disk grey, this prompts users to view the cross initially a secondly pan their eyes to the steps, drawing curiosity. The grey is deep enough to be easily viewed yet doesn't distract the viewer from the main symbol of the logo.
A Symbol of Movement and Determination
The app name, Onward, perfectly aligns with the theme of progress represented by the stairs within the cross. Together, the elements form a logo that visually narrates the journey of the healthcare professionals determined to continue their nursing careers in Canada. The logo isn't just a symbol; it’s a reminder of the resilience and dedication that our users bring to their journey.
Through this logo, we aim to reflect our commitment to supporting these healthcare professionals in taking confident, forward steps into the Canadian healthcare system. As they prepare for job interviews and explore new opportunities through Onward, our logo serves as a small emblem of encouragement, and potential of every step taken forward
